There are traditional Catholic wedding customs that involve unity candles, coins, a belu and cords. Here is the symbolism behind the belu.
The Belu – After the couple has exchanged rings, they kneel side by side. Then two chosen people will each take one end of the belu and drape it over the bride and groom’s shoulders. It signifies that they are dressed for the world as one.
It’s lovely to have symbolism and traditions a part of any wedding ceremony. The belu is traditionally incorporated into any Catholic church service, chapel or civil wedding!
